PETROL was established in 1989 as a civil company of Maciej Paczuski and Ryszard Pulawski.

In 1989 PETROL commenced producing an extrusion additive for plastics called MAZAMID. The technology of MAZAMID was designed at Institute of Chemistry, Warsaw University of Technology in Plock with participation of both PETROL partners and applied for a patent. MAZAMID was introduced to production on the basis of a licence contract between PETROL and Warsaw University of Technology. That fact enabled to enter PETROL into the Register of Innovative and Introductory Units.
